Notes: the programme is open to undergraduates only. There will only be 5 places available in 2008.
This course introduces students to field biology, the basic techniques involved, sampling design and basic data gathering and data management. From field practicals, students will experience and encounter tropical environs and habitats, namely coastal, mangrove, primary and secondary forest. A seven-day field course is included, and will be conducted in Pulau Tioman, Malaysia. During the field course, students will be divided into small groups, and will conduct either four mini-projects in four separate habitats, or one major project in a chosen habitat, under the supervision of experienced field-orientated teaching assistants.
